I have always loved art. As a kid, I loved drawing and painting and working with clay and even drawing in the dirt. As an adult, I moved away from fine art in favor of the performing arts, and those who know me know I mostly "do" theatre: acting, directing, and adjudicating. Painting is an extension of these interests. I have work that feeds my bank account; this is work that feeds my soul.
A few years ago, a close friend took me to one of those painting events at a local restaurant. You know, where you eat, drink and merrily create a work of art following an instructor's step by step? A few years ago, a close friend took me to one of those painting events at a local restaurant. You know, where you eat, drink and merrily create a work of art following an instructor's step by step? It was fun, of course; but what really surprised me was how pleased I was with my result. After a few more events, I thought, well, maybe I could do this on my own. I still attend events occasionally; but most of my inspiration comes from photographs friends have taken, or theatre works in which I have been involved. Art, I find, is a lot of trial

I started with colored pencil but found it more challenging; it can't be erased or easily corrected. Acrylic paints offer the opportunity to say, "Ah, screw it," paint over and try again. Art, I find, is a lot of trial and error. And not every effort turns out a masterpiece. The Photo Gallery section displays drawings I've made and photographs I've taken, some of which I may someday make into paintings.
